Key Responsibilities
- The Co-op will be assigned an engineering project aligned with Schaeffler's current research and development initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments. In addition, the Co-op will collaborate closely with the engineering team on a daily basis, contributing to a range of innovative and technically challenging projects.
- Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection, in contributing to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems (e.g., selection of micro-processors, sensors, actuators, DAQ devices, signal processing circuits for HiL test environments).
- Perform data analysis in supporting system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement efforts, calibration, triage and validation activities.
- Develop (i.e., architect, design, implement, validate, and parameterize) algorithms to enable intended system function in coordination with stakeholder and application requirements.
- Interfacing teams - effectively communicate with these cross functional teams in order to effectively complete assigned tasks.
- Need to be responsible, able to work independently, and open to instruction.
- S/he will be given developmental opportunities through tasks such as projects, job-rotation, hands‑on training, and exposure to Schaeffler's technological processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication ability (written & verbal)
- Extremely self‑motivated & driven to achieve results
- Assertive approach to solving problems
- Ability to prioritize
- The ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods, and lift and move thirty pounds
- SAE collegiate competition team (Formula, Baja, etc.) preferred
- 3D CAD modeling and software preferred
- Mechanical hobbyist preferred
