Role

Field Service Specialist – provide advisory services to customers who own Valmet Quality Control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance for the installation and commissioning of equipment and components.
  • Carry out service calls on a preventative and reactive basis as required, undertaking service and repair of products and systems to deliver against customers’ requirements.
  • Keep accurate records regarding job progress, delays, problems, deliveries, changes, extras, and engineering and fabrication errors.
  • Report back on the completed projects outlining the activities carried out, faults found during service and any future recommendations for improving the service offering.
  • Train customer staff in methods to maintain and repair the equipment, to ensure knowledge is transferred.
  • Conduct audits at customer sites to record and analyze process improvement opportunities.
Geographical scope

Primarily Mid-West (Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana).

Expectations
  • 4+ years experience in the field with instrumentation and electromechanics, preferably in a pulp and paper manufacturing environment.
  • A technical school diploma in instrumentation, electromechanics, or mechatronics.
  • A university bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical or similar engineering.
  • Electro-mechanically inclined, computer-based system literate, self-guided, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable handling customer pressure, staying focused, and collaborating effectively.
  • Overall travel expectations up to 60% with overnight travel within an assigned area.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Instrumentation and controls tuning background; understanding of paper machines and the paper making process.
