Responsibilities
What you'll be able to do:
ADAS Systems Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. Lead the development of feature engineering deliverables including Concept, Logical and Technology requirements, Boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, robustness fields and test procedures.
Work with Hardware, Software and Test teams to ensure Feature requirements are cascaded, aligned, and accepted. Develop and refine vehicle level uses cases, interfaces and feature level specification to ensure production feature delivery. Establish Feature objectives and ensure system operation to meet the end-user/customer objectives through a structured system level test methodology Work with Functional Safety engineers to develop and refine feature functional safety requirements, item definition, hazard analysis/risk assessment and functional safety concept incompliance with ISO-26262/Ford Functional Safety process.
Ensure new features seamlessly integrate with existing features to provide superb customer experience. Work with the virtual validation teams to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle-level testing. Assure that the integration of affected systems meet the requirements for accurate feature-level performance. Support development of Design validation methods to ensure feature robustness across all vehicle environmental conditions and customer usage.
Use data analysis techniques and methods from data generated by track, lab and model-based validation method to ensure feature achieves a desired set of requirements. Plan and help execute real-world evaluation of ADAS features via vehicle/HIL/virtual testing and identify system problems/issues. Support and coordinate root-cause analysis with internal functions and external suppliers to ensure delivered system achieves feature requirements. Support Sign-off of feature level performance for first vehicle program implementation.
Gather quality history to manage and drive feature quality and improvements (i.e. Data Analytics/VOCF/Launch Feedback/Warranty/External Metrics such as JD Powers). Domestic Travel Required up to 10%.
Qualifications
You'll have...
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 3 years of experience with the following skill is required:
1. System engineering including Design, analysis, and Concept, Logical and technology level requirement development of an automotive feature/system which functions are distributed across multiple ECU's. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
1. Performing Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis.
2. Deliver a system (Software, Hardware, Test, and Systems) in collaboration with team members from different functional areas.
3. Developing software using Matlab Simulink and Stateflow, or Hand Coding (C++, C, Python or Java). 4. Debugging embedded software and investigating issues in vehicle or on a HIL stand.
5. Recording and interpreting data from typical automotive vehicle interfaces (CAN, CANFD and Auto-Ethernet). 1 year of experience with each of the following skill is required:
1. Analyzing large data sets from an embedded SW system for statical analysis, identification of trends or outlier behavior.
