The Senior Designer will be responsible for designing parts and components using design software. The Senior Designer will also provide technical assistance, guidance, coaching, and support to the design team. This part time position is located in Dearborn, MI.
As a Senior Designer, you will:- Design vehicle parts and components using applicable CAD system
- Model simple or complex parts as well as dependent components
- Define and apply GD&T for both assemblies and dependent components
- Develop new designs and re-designs, using internal or external prints, models, sketches and verbal instructions
- Create complex concept layouts
- Plan for overall project and component design timing
- Check drawings and models for completeness and accuracy
- Resolve complex configuration issues with a cross-functional team prior to customer delivery
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, coaching, and support to design team
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of mechanical design experience using CAD software.
- Knowledge of dynamic motion and envelope modeling
- Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Advanced drafting skills
- Ability to take direction and adapt to new challenges
- Ability to work independently and as in a team environment
- Associates degree or technical certification in CAD, design or related courses
- Experience designing automotive powertrain, body and/or chassis components
- Class A and/or Class B surfacing experience
- Knowledge, understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), ISO (International Organization for Standardization) of Fit and descriptive geometry
- Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
