Diesel Calibration Engineer

We are seeking a Diesel Calibration Engineer to support diesel engine aftertreatment development with a strong focus on DPF aftertreatment systems, engine dynamometer emissions testing, and regulatory certification activities. This role is hands-on and lab-focused, supporting lean, regeneration (regen), and OBD emissions processes, with daily responsibility for dyno testing, data collection, and analysis.

This position does not require full calibrator ownership, and is well-suited for a technologist, engineer, or technician-level professional with strong diesel development experience and familiarity with calibration and data acquisition tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Aftertreatment & Calibration Support
    • Support Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) aftertreatment systems, including installation, testing, removal, and troubleshooting
    • Execute aftertreatment calibration updates and monitor system response
    • Track and document calibration changes, test results, and configuration updates
    • Support diesel engine and aftertreatment calibration, test methods, and validation activities
  • Emissions & Dyno Testing
    • Perform engine dynamometer certification emissions testing for: lean operation, regeneration (active and passive), On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)
    • Maintain daily responsibility for engine dyno operation, test execution, and data quality
    • Support EPA 10–65 certification protocols, including familiarity with key test cycles
    • Assist with emissions certification readiness and documentation
  • Data Collection & Analysis
    • Collect, analyze, and share dyno and emissions data across engineering teams
    • Utilize ETAS calibration and data acquisition tools for: dyno data collection, calibration tracking, data sharing and reporting
    • Ensure data integrity and traceability for certification and development activities
  • Cross-Functional Support
    • Act as a technical “floater”, supporting multiple programs or test activities as priorities shift
    • Collaborate with calibration engineers, emissions teams, and regulatory compliance groups
    • Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for aftertreatment or emissions issues
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with diesel engine development, testing, or aftertreatment systems
  • Hands-on experience with engine dynamometer testing
  • Familiarity with DPF aftertreatment systems and diesel emissions processes
  • Knowledge of lean, regen, and OBD emissions strategies
  • Experience using ETAS tools (INCA, MDA, or similar) for calibration and data collection
  • Understanding of EPA 10–65 emissions certification protocols and key drive cycles
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Prior experience supporting emissions certification testing
  • Background in diesel aftertreatment calibration or validation
