Wind Tunnel Technician
This position is working onsite in the Wind Tunnel complex, the Wind Tunnel Technician will be responsible for prepping vehicles with instrumentation (includes putting sensors on vehicle) prior to testing, working with engineers to run Aerodynamic, powertrain cooling, and Fuel Efficiency tests on vehicles to collect data, and removing the vehicle and instrumentation from the vehicle after the testing has been completed.
Position Details
- Support maintenance, calibration and quality system technical resource to ensure Wind Tunnel facility readiness in support of Product Development testing
- Interface with customers to understand test objectives, develop test strategies and collect/analyze data to satisfy customer needs
- Support efficiency improvement actions including test automation and lights-out testing strategies
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting processes for test system issues, test instrumentation, and facility infrastructure
- Stay up to date on related test standards and develop updated or new test methods as required
- Develop and enforce safe plans of actions for all test and facility activities
- Work with Environmental, Health, & Safety representatives as necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Position Qualifications
- 1+ years of Wind Tunnel laboratory experience
- Strong technical aptitude specifically in the area of W/T testing, electrical instrumentation and electrical system diagnostics
- Knowledge of vehicle test laboratory infrastructure (electrical and mechanical) and its operation
- Knowledge of vehicle subsystems, their operation and use of external stimuli for systems including active cruise, lane departure warning systems, anti-lock brakes, RKE and infotainment connected services, etc.
- Strong diagnostic skills related to test system instrumentation and vehicle diagnostics
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- The following items are desired but not required:
- In-depth knowledge of CAN diagnostic and flashing tools (Ford DET tool, Canalyzer)
- Experience in the setup and operation of the W/T test control system software

This is a Contract position based out of DEARBORN, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
