General
Summary:
The Structural Designer, with supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering and/or a project engineer, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills for day-to-day support. The role involves applying engineering fundamentals to design structural framing systems or components at an entry-level basis.
- Formulate design and/or analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculations with direction and assistance.
- Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions.
- Prepare construction documents and communicate with other disciplines to produce a well-coordinated set of construction documents.
- Coordinate with other disciplines for clash detection and load determination.
- Review shop-drawing submittals to assure design intent is met.
- Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field required. E.I.T. preferred. - Experience:
3+ years of related experience in the structural engineering field. Master’s degree, research work, and internships may count toward this experience. - Analysis:
Risa, RAM, ETABS, and SAP
2000 preferred. - Drafting:
Bluebeam and Revit modeling preferred.
