PositionSummary
The Engineering Manager in Linear Motion & Automation oversees multidisciplinary teams developing electromechanical actuators, servo drives, robotics, and automated systems. They bridge product design with business strategy, ensuring complex machine systems are delivered on cost, schedule, and quality while meeting rigorous precision and load-analysis standards.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership:
Direct the design, simulation, and physical validation of actuators, ball/roller screws, guide rails, and multi-axis Cartesian or gantry systems. - Team Management:
Hire, mentor, and evaluate a team of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers. - Project Oversight:
Manage engineering workflows (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Agile), set project KPIs, and balance budgets for R&D and customer-facing programs. - System Integration:
Guide the integration of mechanics with automation software (PLC/PC controllers, SCADA, motion control). - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with supply chain, sales, and manufacturing departments to ensure manufacturability and meet customer specifications.
- Education:
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics. - Experience:
5+ years of progressive engineering experience in industrial automation, with 2+ years in a formal supervisory or management role. - Technical Proficiencies:
Working knowledge of 3D CAD (Solid Works/Creo), kinematics/load analysis, and industrial communication protocols (Ether Net/IP, Profinet). - Soft Skills:
Risk mitigation, resource allocation, and exceptional stakeholder communication.
