Rear Closures Technical Development Specialist

We are seeking an energetic self-starter to develop and release technical requirements and strategies for moving rear closures. The ideal candidate will have experience working with internal and external customers to set engineering-related requirements to achieve customer expectations of performance. Experience with cargo doors or other rear vehicle swinging/hinged closures is preferred. The role involves the development of core documentation like DVP&R, technical requirements, FMA, and technical strategies, focusing on all aspects of rear closures including liftgates, tailgates, cargo doors, swing gates, etc.

This will include sheet metal structures, hinges, latches, mechanisms, and system integration.

Required Skills &

Qualifications:

• Technical Writing – Ability to draft and publish technical specifications and requirements, including drafting DFMEA and DVP related documents from scratch.
• Product Engineering – Experience with developing a product from start to finish, from early development through to product launch.
• 3D Modeling – Proficiency in opening, viewing, measuring, and cutting basic sections in both Vis and Catia V5, as well as completing basic modeling of 3D shapes within Catia.
• Benchmarking – Experience in collecting competitive benchmarking information like mass, size, and features to compare with existing designs.
• Technical Requirements – Experience in collecting information required to draft technical requirements, with exposure to Voice of the Customer (VOC) data collection and ability to write requirements from a physics-based approach.
• Mechanical Engineering – Understanding of basic principles of Statics and Dynamics, ability to draft and/or complete a Free Body Diagram (FBD) of a moving system, and experience with mechanisms and structures.
• Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry

Preferred Skills &

Qualifications:

• Experience with mechatronic or system integration, design & development.
• Experience with sheet metal body structures, closures, stamping, static and/or dynamic sealing, power/gas struts, power drive units/motors, and hinges.
• Direct experience in closures systems (e.g., tailgates, liftgates, swing gates, side doors, cargo doors, moveable roof systems).
