Manager – Clinical/Supports Coordination
Services to Enhance Potential (STEP) is seeking an experienced and motivated manager for our Clinical/Supports Coordination Services to oversee the quality, compliance, and growth of our Supports Coordination program. This leadership role is responsible for supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, expanding service capacity, and promoting person‑centered, self‑determined supports for individuals receiving services.
The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with a background in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, or human services who thrives in a mission‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities Program & Service Oversight- Oversee the quality and quantity of Supports Coordination services provided to STEP members
- Ensure services comply with Mental Health Code, Medicaid, MDHHS, DWIHN, CARF, and other regulatory requirements
- Monitor service delivery to ensure best practices, person‑centered planning, and self‑determination principles are followed
- Review and sign Plans of Service as required
- Ensure services are delivered in the least restrictive, least intrusive, and most cost‑effective manner
- Supervise Supports Coordinators providing direct services
- Assign and manage caseloads
- Recommend hiring, disciplinary action, and termination in collaboration with leadership and HR
- Schedule and conduct performance evaluations
- Provide routine and as‑needed staff training
- Support staff development, retention, and accountability
- Lead efforts to expand the Supports Coordination department’s service capacity
- Participate in strategic planning related to staffing, training, and service delivery
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new Supports Coordinators as needed
- Oversee intake and assignment of new consumers
- May complete Integrated Biopsychosocial Assessments as needed
- May maintain a small caseload
- Ensure service linkages, natural supports, and community resources are established and maintained
- Track and enter data related to 1915 iSPA and Habilitation and Supports Waivers
- Collaborate with leadership on outcome measurement and data analysis
- Participate in Utilization Review and Case Review Committee activities as assigned
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and required records
- Promote safety, empowerment, independence, and autonomy of individuals served
- Identify and promote opportunities for employment, volunteerism, and community engagement
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in human service associated with mental health, developmental and other disability services/ supports.
- A minimum of one (1) year in a management position or demonstration of equivalent work experience. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Licensed by the State of Michigan under Public Act 299 of 1980 and must satisfy STEP’s and DWIHN credentialing and re‑credentialing requirements.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, waiver services, and person‑centered planning.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
