About The Unit

MICU is responsible for treating patients with a full range of cardiac, renal, pulmonary, and endocrine disorders as well as infectious diseases and some surgical patients. We also provide continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and offer hypothermia treatments for post‑cardiac arrest patients.

Scope of Work

The RN works within the ANA scope of practice, using the nursing process to provide professional patient care. The RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and discharges patients, partnering with families and incorporating patient/family input to develop care plans and teaching strategies. Documentation of education and learning is recorded in the health record. The RN delivers quality care under the direction of the Nurse Leader in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years.
  • Graduates from a non‑accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute‑care experience or at least two years in a licensed health‑care role and must have passed the NCLEX.
  • Michigan registered nurse (RN) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months.
  • Specialty certification highly recommended within 2 years.
  • Direct patient‑care experience preferred.
  • Two years of RN experience preferred.
