As Island Host, you will demonstrate the essence of creating an exceptional guest journey and are committed to taking care of the guests from the moment they arrive through to their departure.
The resort is a 90‑villa, adults‑only luxury destination with world‑class dining, including the largest all‑glass underwater restaurant and an 5.8 m undersea restaurant. Responsibilities- Report directly to the FOM, Assistant Guest Services Manager, or Island Hosts Supervisor on all matters affecting resort hosts operations.
- Cooperate, coordinate and communicate with other departments as required.
- Contribute to the morale and team spirit of the resort by maintaining good relationships with colleagues.
- Perform any additional duties or special projects as directed by resort management.
- Be fully conversant with all health & safety, fire and emergency procedures of the resort and airport (TMA).
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, and body language.
- Represent the resort politely and professionally in any situation.
- Ensure all activities are carried out honestly, ethically, and within Maldivian law.
- Adhere to standards of punctuality, performance, attitude, teamwork, guest relations, staff relations, resort rules, and loyalty to management and interdepartmental cooperation.
- Use discretion and tact when dealing with guest inquiries, problems, or complaints efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure all necessary reports (arrival list, manifest, VIP list, etc.) are available.
- Welcome guests at the jetty with the welcome drum.
- Arrange resort taxis from the main reception to the respective resort.
- Provide cold face towel, welcome drink, registration card, and all necessary information to guarantee a smooth, fast check‑in.
- Encourage guests to provide complete contact details and email address on the registration card and assist them during completion.
- Introduce resort facilities to guests, including allocated restaurants, bars, spa, etc.
- Escort guests to their allocated villa upon arrival.
- Use the welcome speech and room orientation as provided, ensuring resort standards are met.
- Ensure guests receive two courtesy calls per week from the host.
- Use guests’ names when meeting them to personalize service.
- Assist with restaurant table reservations, excursion arrangements, and special or individual requests.
- Assist with all guest requests.
- Perform room inspections before guest arrival and spot checks during the stay; coordinate with HSK, RS, and Engineering for follow‑up on guest needs.
- Handle guest complaints and update the profile history in Opera.
- Prepare guest arrival and departure letters.
- Maintain registration card updates and guest profile in Opera.
- Be familiar with all resort activities to provide accurate information and recommendations.
- Minimize non‑work‑related staff contact during work hours while staying in contact with as many guests as possible.
- Perform any other jobs related to duties assigned by management.
- Be fully trained and updated in emergency procedures.
- Wear uniform during working hours and maintain a positive presence in guest areas.
- Completed butler service training is highly preferred, or related experience that provides required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Expertise in Opera, Outlook and MS Office Suite.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Flexible working hours with a can‑do attitude.
- At least three years of previous experience in a similar role in a comparable environment.
