Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for an Admissions Recruiter.

Henry Ford College Admissions Recruiters play a vital role in recruiting and admitting students of all ages and life stages who will thrive and succeed at the College and reach their educational and life goals. Our professional Admissions Recruiters work as a team and individually to build partnerships with community organizations and schools as well as individual students, families, and community members.

The Admissions Recruiters actively engage prospective students on relevant programs and co‑curricular opportunities offered by HFC and guide them through the admissions and enrollment process. Admissions Recruiters regularly plan and attend recruiting and admissions‑support events on‑site, off‑site, and virtually.

Hours: 40 hours/week, generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Some evenings and weekends required. Some hybrid work may be available as determined by the division Vice President. Schedule changes will be determined and finalized with supervisor at time of hire and may change based on departmental needs and the College’s operations. Recruiters must live within reasonable proximity to our Dearborn, Michigan main campus.

However, education, experience, and training that demonstrates proficiency and the ability to perform the essential duties will be evaluated for equivalency to the education, competencies, and experience qualifications listed below.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in business, education, marketing and communications, higher education administration, student development, human services, or related field.
  • One or more years of relevant experience including one of the following or equivalent:
    • Experience working directly with high school counselors and students.
    • Experience in college admissions, recruiting, or other direct student services.
  • Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be personable, energetic, and service‑focused.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, be flexible, adaptable, and creative in a rapidly changing environment, and work well under pressure in a time‑sensitive, results‑driven environment.
  • Must be successful working independently and in active teams providing services in remote, hybrid, and in‑person environments.
  • High comfort level with change and frequent interaction within and beyond the institution.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess student situations and make well‑informed decisions to resolve student concerns and problems with minimal assistance from managers or directors.
  • Understanding of a team‑based culture in an environment that actively values and strives toward Advancing Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ABIDE).
  • Cross‑cultural competency and cultural humility that recognizes, values, and advances the cultural assets and multiple forms of human diversity that enrich our local and broader communities.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with external stakeholders such as students, teachers, K‑12 administrators, community members, and peers.
  • Available to work outside of standard business hours for scheduled events and activities (extra time will be compensated via flex time or overtime).
  • If hybrid work is considered suitable for this role and is permitted by the employee’s supervisor and Vice President:
    Must have access to computing and communications technology  the College’s hybrid work policy, all equipment used to facilitate any permitted hybrid work must be obtained and maintained by the employee.
  • Good driving record, and must have access to personal vehicle to allow for regular work‑related travel to schools and community locations throughout Southeast Michigan. (The Recruiter will receive mileage reimbursement for documented work‑related travel).
