Responsibilities
What you'll do...
Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for Powertrain Machining, located at plants in SE Michigan, Ohio, and Canada
- Utilize machining process knowledge, particularly steel, iron, and aluminum metal cutting and grinding to deliver an efficient and optimized process regarding quality, costs, timing, and footprint.
- Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
- Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume manufacturing operations.
- Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Machining feasibility issues.
- Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
- Initiate bids, evaluate, recap bids for equipment purchase; work with Purchasing to write and place orders.
- Lead new program machining process installation, start-up, and commissioning at the manufacturing site. In addition, support tooling buyoffs @ vendor facilities.
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product and tooling issues.
- Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
- Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
- Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
Qualifications
You'll have...
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related fields.
-Min of 1-3 Years of Experience in Manufacturing
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to support launch programs on extended travel
- Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
- Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
- Familiarity of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
Even better, you may have...
- Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, GD&T etc.)
- Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, CPARS
- Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred but not mandatory
- Experience w/automotive assembly or machining tooling, processes and facilities preferred but not mandatory
- Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems:
Stator/Rotor Manufacturing, Machining, Cell Manufacturing,
and Battery Assembly
- Error proofing
