Job Description
Supervisor, Body Modules (Power Supply & Energy Management Software)
We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company's vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You'll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out.
Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.
We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Supervisor to lead the Power Supply & Energy Management Software team within our Body Controls organization. In this high-impact leadership role, you will manage a team of SW Applications Engineers responsible for the end-to-end software lifecycle of a critical portfolio of components: DCDC Converters, Ultra-Capacitor/Energy Modules, BMS LIN Sensors, 48V Li-Ion Batteries, and 48V Belt Integrated Starter Generators (BiSG).
In this position...
You will be responsible for the strategic direction, technical delivery, and people management of the team ensuring these complex, interacting power systems meet Ford's stringent standards for functional safety, cybersecurity, quality, and performance. You will act as the central technical authority for these commodities, fostering collaboration between your team, core software developers, hardware suppliers, and vehicle program leadership to deliver robust power solutions for Ford's next-generation architectures.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of software application engineers. Manage resource allocation, performance reviews, and career development, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Program Delivery Management: Oversee the software delivery for multiple simultaneous vehicle programs across the entire portfolio (DCDC, UCap, BMS, 48V Battery, BiSG). Ensure all software deliverables meet Global Product Development System (GPDS) milestones, quality gates, and launch timelines.
- Supplier Strategy & Oversight: Manage high-level technical relationships with Tier 1 suppliers for power electronics and energy storage systems. Handle critical escalations regarding software quality, timeline risks, and commercial/technical trade-offs. Ensure rigorous review processes are in place for supplier software architectures and test plans.
- Technical Strategy & Architecture: Define the software integration strategy for the 48V and 12V powernet. Ensure cohesive interaction between the BiSG (generation), 48V Battery (storage), DCDC (conversion), and UCap (redundancy/stabilization).
- Functional Safety & Compliance: Accountable for the team's adherence to ISO 26262 functional safety standards. Ensure that ASIL requirements (especially for redundant power in safety-critical steering/braking scenarios) are correctly decomposed, implemented, and validated across all managed components.
- Cybersecurity & Quality Assurance: Enforce compliance with automotive cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434) and software quality processes (ASPICE). Champion the implementation of robust diagnostics and fault management strategies across the power supply system.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Champion: Lead and guide the team through complex, cross-functional Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Whys) for high-severity issues. Act as the escalation point for difficult software/hardware interaction bugs involving LIN sensors, CAN/FD communication, and power regulation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary voice of the Power Supply & Energy Management team to Vehicle Program Management, Core Software, Hardware Engineering, and Functional Safety teams. Align software feature rollouts with vehicle-level integration events.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve internal processes for requirements management, software validation, and release management to increase efficiency and reduce defects.
You'll have...
