Position Overview
We are hiring Test Technicians to work at the Body and Chassis Dyno lab in Dearborn, MI. The role requires automotive knowledge and experience, either on the job or as a hobby, and a passion for learning from a leader in the industry.
Responsibilities- Mechanical preparation and instrumentation, test execution, data collection, and post‑test removal of equipment.
- Work with lab instrumentation, including transducers, accelerometers, load cells, potentiometers, and other electrical equipment.
- Handle vehicle suspension components and subsystems.
- Complete test‑related duties as assigned during daily scheduling meetings.
- Execute work independently with quality and efficiency.
- Receive parts and prepare them for first run and subsequent runs according to test matrices.
- Conduct test‑stand sample prep, fixturing, installation/removal, photographic documentation, test execution, data collection, and review.
- Run standard tests and support test engineers for unique one‑off testing in a lab environment.
- Run multiple test facilities simultaneously.
- Meet all workplace health and safety requirements and provide feedback for improvements.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and proper data quality.
- Self‑starter, highly motivated, strong team player, and positive attitude.
- High School Diploma required.
- Proficient electrical and mechanical knowledge and skills.
- Good interpersonal, computer, oral, and written skills.
- Fabrication experience in a general machine shop (drill press, band saw, grinders, welding, mill, etc.).
- Print reading and test fixture layout/build.
- Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology or a combination of 2 years’ experience and college preferred.
- Previous testing environment experience: hydraulic/pneumatic system controller, automotive systems/subsystems, MTS controller familiarity.
- 3+ years of vehicle system and subsystem related testing preferred.
- 3+ years of vehicle lab testing preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office and PC‑based systems.
- Knowledge of overall vehicle systems (chassis, body, seat, suspension preferred; engine and transmission a plus).
Hourly rate: $20 – $30.

Physical Requirements
This role involves manual labor, lifting up to 50 lbs (35% of time), climbing stairs (15% of time), and working in high‑noise, vehicle‑roasting, and hazardous conditions such as rotating equipment, engines, hot exhaust, and trip hazards. Standing, sitting, bending, and stooping are part of typical duties. Shift work is day‑shift, Monday‑Friday, with occasional overtime and potential weekend coverage.
