Job Description
The Plastic Injection Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing injection molding machines and related equipment. This role ensures that all machinery operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and contributing to consistent production quality. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues, and implementing solutions to keep the manufacturing process running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plastic injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and related systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize production downtime.
- Repair or replace defective components, such as motors, sensors, valves, pumps, and electrical wiring.
Equipment Calibration and Setup:
- Calibrate machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to production specifications.
- Assist with machine setup and changeovers, ensuring that all equipment is adjusted correctly for each production run.
- Work with production teams to optimize machine settings for efficiency and product quality.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems, using tools and technical manuals.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Collaborate with engineers and machine operators to understand issues and implement corrective actions.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule to reduce unexpected breakdowns and extend the life of equipment.
- Document maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and part replacements.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and materials needed for regular maintenance tasks.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment and ensure all machinery is operating within safe parameters.
- Participate in safety audits and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices in the facility.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of injection molding equipment.
- Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and improving maintenance practices.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in injection molding technology and maintenance best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, including repairs, parts used, and time spent on each task.
- Prepare reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
- Update equipment manuals, schematics, and SOPs as needed.
