1st shift, 6:30 am–2:30 pm, Monday‑Friday with overtime and weekends based on business needs.
All three work areas require a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a high level of attention to detail. The plant operates at high temperatures and humidity.
Nature and ScopeThe primary responsibility of this position is to operate and maintain a laser cell according to customer specifications and production requirements. The successful candidate will ensure efficient machine operation, perform quality inspections, and maintain a safe and organized work environment. As a secondary responsibility, the position will serve as a backup Weld Operator, assisting with welding operations as needed to support production goals.
Under supervision, perform line tech duties. An entry‑level to Level One operator must be able to run a Laser Cell, observe safety procedures and lockout/tag‑out, inspect parts, fill out production tags and related forms, and maintain an efficiency rate of 85%.
Principle Accountabilities- Run a laser cell per required job target under supervision.
- Execute all production and quality procedures, inspect parts in gauge, understand customer packing requirements, and fill out tags properly.
- Maintain a clean working environment; 5S the cell, keep guarding free of hand prints, clear garbage, keep the True Control 1000 screen clean, and remove debris from robot panels.
- Report potential hazards and perform lockout/tag‑out as needed.
- Set up and operate the laser to produce parts to specification and control material flow.
- Log into and out of jobs on the computer system, entering completed and scrapped parts and their locations.
- Visually inspect and evaluate finished products for defects and laser quality.
- Measure and verify parts meet specified blueprints, sketches, and specifications using appropriate measurement equipment.
- Demonstrate skill in setting up, operating, and controlling all laser cutting machine functions.
- Monitor laser operations to ensure equipment is safe and efficient; notify supervisor of malfunctions and corrective actions.
- Identify and handle non‑conforming products correctly.
- Handle finished products and corresponding documentation appropriately.
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, and lubricating machines (dust collector, laser cell inside and outside).
- Check machine operation and report faults to leader/supervisor.
- Perform welding operations following general instructions and established shop practices.
- Observe and listen to welding machine gauges to ensure process meets specifications.
- Operate controls (cranks, knobs, buttons) to adjust and activate welding process.
- Lay out, fit, or tack work pieces together using hand tools.
- Operate welding machine holding devices, using hand tools.
- Examine metal products or assemblies to ensure specifications are met.
- Position and adjust fixtures, attachments, or work pieces on machine using hand tools.
- Handle non‑conforming products correctly.
- Handle finished products and documentation correctly.
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, and lubricating welding equipment (electrodes, pins, weld gun tips).
- Check machine operation and report faults to leader/supervisor.
The position may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 40 lb, pushing and pulling up to 50 lb, stooping, bending, and twisting on occasion. It requires attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment. Work is typically a 40‑hour week with overtime as workload dictates.
The work is performed in an office and shop environment with personal protective equipment. It includes exposure to variable temperatures (hot and cold) and dust. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
