Position Summary

The Cell Leader is responsible for the training, daily work assignments and performance review of the inspector operators. They ensure product quality by participating in first piece approval (where applicable), and review rejected parts produced on the shift. In addition, they ensure the workstations are properly set up and supplied throughout the shift and contribute to direct labor hours through relief rotations where necessary.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitors area for hazards and situational prevention.
  • Records incidents and misses on the incident miss report form.
  • Records start and stop of jobs in ADP, ensuring accurate team punches.
  • Performs stretch per guidelines prior to startup.
  • Verifies associate rotation within the cell.
  • Assigns Inspector Operators to work centers.
  • Completes assignment schedule at least 15 minutes before shift.
  • Rotates machine assignment for Inspector Operators as required.
  • Notifies Supervisor of labor shortages.
  • Relieves operators as needed.
  • Trains Inspector Operators.
  • Assigns new Inspector Operators to a “Training Buddy” (experienced Inspector Operator).
  • Trains non‑certified operators to become certified on specific jobs.
  • Manages Inspector Operators and completes performance reviews.
  • Conducts cell meetings to review relevant information (pre‑shift meetings).
  • Ensures Team Accountability.
  • Reviews part quality and rejects scrap if necessary.
  • Records scrap properly and notifies Quality for excessive scrap or unusual defects.
  • Monitors L2L Production Monitoring system throughout the shift if applicable.
  • Documents cell performance.
  • Conducts LPA’s as required.
  • Determines need for job or schedule, communicates shortages with Supervisor, records lot tracking where applicable.
  • Confirms parts were scanned into next operation (runner accountability) and maintains inventory accountability for cell.
  • Updates GEMBA boards per guidelines and utilizes problem‑solving tools to report weekly GEMBA.
  • Ensures operators and trainers verify signed off on latest revision level of the OITM.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the department manager.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Appropriate mathematics and reading skills.
  • Ability to operate Tracker computer systems (Molding Only).
  • Knowledge of product line.
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards for product line.
  • Ability to produce product at appropriate speed and quality.
  • Prior leadership training preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Frequent bending or twisting.
  • Standing or sitting for 8 hours, possibly 12 hours.
  • Lifting boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of safety glasses with side shields.
  • Cotton/fabric gloves required when handling Class A parts.
