Become a GRADUATE NURSE in the Northern Region
Under the guidance and direct oversight of a licensed Registered Nurse, this position performs a range of patient care assignments within the secure perimeter of MDOC facilities. Upon obtaining licensure within six (6) months of hire and successful performance, the position will be reclassified to the Registered Nurse P11.

- Shift differential pay and/or prison pay of $0.40 to $0.50 per hour, where applicable

Positions are located at various correctional facilities throughout the state. Applicants may select their preferred work location and shift availability via supplemental questions during application.
Educational RequirementsPossession of a diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.
ExperienceNo specific type or amount of experience is required.
Ethical StandardsThe Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation. All employees must meet high ethical standards and report any possible conflict of interest.
TrainingNew hires to the MDOC and returning employees after more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours based on offender contact level, plus additional online training.
