The Cardiac Cath Lab at Dearborn supports 4 procedural labs and 16 pre and post‑procedure bays. As the referral center for the surrounding communities, we see and treat both elective and emergent patients with cardiac and vascular conditions. Utilizing the most up‑to‑date technology and supplies, the lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, while specializing in high‑risk angioplasty with the use of heart support devices.
We also specialize in chronic total occlusions and structural heart procedures with in‑lab TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). The lab performs numerous pacemaker implants, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, transesophageal echo and cardioversion procedures.
Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the "Top 10 Hospitals" in Michigan, this major teaching and research hospital has been advancing care since 1953. Scope of WorkThe Cath Lab Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient‑family centered care principles. The Cath Lab Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures. Working within a multidisciplinary team environment demonstrates specialized care within the cath lab and across the cath lab care continuum (Pre/Intra/Post Lab) while using critical thinking and excellent communication.
Qualifications- Associate's Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree B.S.N., or M.S.N., or DNP/Ph.D. – if not minimum BSN prepared, a new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within five (5) years. This effective April 18, 2023.
- Minimum of one (1) year acute care experience.
- Preferred:
Critical Care, Cath Lab, or Procedural/OR experience. - LIC‑Registered Nurse (RN) – State of Michigan upon hire required.
- CRT‑Specialty Certification (unknown specialty) – 2 years required.
- CRT‑Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association upon hire required.
- CRT‑Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC American Red Cross upon hire required.
- CRT‑Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA American Heart Association (180 days).
