Full‑Time Benefit Eligible

Shift: Midnights 7:00 pm to 7:30 am with alternating weekend schedule

Unit Overview

Our 20‑Bed combination Surgical Step‑Down/Cardiac Telemetry Unit provides specialized care for patients transitioning from intensive care to a lower level of monitoring and support prior to release. Nursing care typically requires advanced interventions and continuous cardiac monitoring as patients progress toward discharge.

Our multidisciplinary team offers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a supportive environment, facilitating recovery and preparing patients for safe discharge. We prioritize collaboration, communication, education, and accountability to enhance outcomes and patient experiences.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 20‑bed unit, which specializes in care for patients transitioning from the ICU to a lower level of monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered nursing care for surgical and cardiac patients.
    • Perform continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpret rhythms to ensure patient safety.
    • Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting changes and implementing interventions as needed.
    • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in compliance with physician orders and hospital policies.
    • Provide wound care, post‑operative care, and education for surgical patients.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the multidisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
    • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
    • Participate in daily rounds to discuss patient progress and transition planning.
  • Unit Support:
    • Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient unit environment by adhering to infection control, safety, and quality standards.
    • Assist with onboarding and mentoring new staff as needed.
    • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and unit performance.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records using the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
    • Ensure proper documentation of assessments, interventions, medications, and outcomes.
General Summary

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team and participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals to ensure implementation of solutions.

Education / Experience Required
  • BSN preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
Certifications / Licensure Required
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
  • Health care provider certification (BCLS).
