About the Role

The Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that products meet established standards of quality, safety, and reliability before reaching customers. This position involves conducting detailed inspections, performing tests, and analyzing data to identify defects or deviations from specifications. The Quality Control Tech collaborates closely with production teams to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. By maintaining rigorous quality assurance processes, this role helps to minimize waste, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Ultimately, the Quality Control Technician ensures that the company’s products consistently comply with regulatory requirements and internal quality benchmarks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in quality control, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of quality control principles and inspection techniques.
  • Experience using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis methods.
  • Proficiency with quality documentation software and data entry systems.
  • Certification such as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct various tests using specialized equipment and document results accurately for quality records.
  • Identify and report any product defects or process deviations to the quality management team promptly.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain and calibrate inspection and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Assist in the development and updating of quality control procedures and documentation.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to support compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Skills

The Quality Control Technician uses analytical skills daily to assess product conformity and identify defects through precise measurement and testing. Communication skills are essential for effectively reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues. Technical skills enable the use and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment, ensuring accurate data collection. Problem-solving abilities support the investigation of quality discrepancies and the implementation of corrective actions.
