Primary Purpose of Role:
The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) is accountable for achieving the regional sales and profitability objectives for the Off‑Highway Industrial business within the Northern regional geography. Candidates must be located near major industrial target cities and be willing to travel frequently to customers and Off‑Highway facilities.
- Provide leadership for Off‑Highway’s internal and external customers in all assigned tasks, while upholding the company’s core values.
- Achieve the region’s revenue and profitability plan for the Industrial business.
- Establish a foundation for sustainable future sales growth.
- Sell and teach others how to sell the Off‑Highway value proposition to valued customers.
- Direct selling activities within the region, including resource deployment and customer interactions.
- Prioritize resources effectively in accordance with corporate objectives.
- Efficiently manage distributor relationships.
- Collaborate with territory development and key account teams to ensure growth in defined key account segments.
- Fulfil the region’s forecasting and sales‑tracking requirements in a timely manner.
- Set strategic vision for the region, develop and adhere to the approved business plan, and accomplish growth initiatives established in the annual budget process.
- Evaluate market trends, gather competitive information, and identify trends that can affect current and future growth.
- Execute special projects as assigned.
- Travel as required to accomplish territory objectives and requirements.
- English is mandatory; other languages are preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience with Off‑Highway products.
- Knowledge of failure‑mode analysis and strong 8D discipline and basic RED X knowledge.
- High computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet and Advantage of Off‑Highway systems experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (face‑to‑face, phone & e‑mail).
- Strong process and team‑working skills, interacting with leadership, service centers and customers.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work towards departmental goals with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- 3‑5 years of field‑sales experience considered; preference for experience with industrial customers in stationary applications in power transmission and gear‑reducer engineering.
- Track record of growing territory sales and overcoming customer objections.
- Ability to evaluate a sales territory, develop a roadmap, and pursue new customer interactions.
- Comfortable engaging with customers by telephone and online.
- Knowledge of the stationary industrial market, gear‑reducer and power‑transmission industry.
- Record of individual and team achievements in prior sales positions.
- Strong negotiating skills; formal sales training courses a plus.
- Oversee accounts receivable activity and resolve customer payment issues.
Ability to travel (approximately 50% of time, mostly in North America).
