Position SummaryThe Safety & Loss Prevention Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of guests, team members, and hotel property. This role maintains a secure environment through proactive monitoring, prompt response to incidents, and a strong focus on guest service.
Job duties:
- Anticipate potential safety and security risks and take proactive steps to prevent incidents, injuries, and inappropriate behavior on hotel premises.
- Provide guest‑focused security services, including escorting guests and team members to vehicles, managing crowd control, securing the property, and de‑escalating situations.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, taking appropriate action to resolve issues while minimizing risk and liability to the hotel.
- Greet and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Respond to guest inquiries clearly and courteously using a positive communication style.
- Remain calm, alert, and attentive during high‑traffic periods and emergency situations.
- Maintain constant awareness of activity in and around the hotel, including the lobby and exterior areas; provide directions and assistance as needed.
- Act as an extension of hotel leadership by reporting concerns and contacting emergency services when necessary.
- Complete incident reports accurately and thoroughly, documenting accidents, safety violations, and other occurrences.
- Perform assigned delivery, maintenance, and custodial tasks during the shift as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and order of the property through regular inspections.
- Maintain safe working conditions across the hotel.
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to investigate incidents, interview individuals, and prepare clear, accurate, and legible reports.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; multilingual ability is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on guest service.
- Ability to analyze situations, make sound decisions, and take appropriate action quickly.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate time, place, and sequence of activities.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, etc.).
- Must be able to move freely throughout the hotel and maintain situational awareness.
- Knowledge of and compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in hotel security, law enforcement (civilian or military), or industrial security preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record (subject to periodic checks).
