Corrections Officer positions are located at various locations throughout the state. Corrections Medical Officers are located at Woodland Center Correctional Facility.

Required Education And Experience

Education
The candidate must complete 15 semester (23 term) college credits in any field.

Military Veterans
The MDOC accepts Joint Services Transcripts (JST). A DD214 is not a JST. Contact information for JST assistance is provided in the original posting.

Experience
Corrections Officer 8 or Corrections Medical Officer 8. No specific type or amount is required.

Alternate Education And Experience
Corrections Officer 8 requires two years of full-time corrections officer experience in another correctional setting and satisfactory current/employment status, or successful completion of basic training in the uniformed services. An Education Waiver program may allow up to 24 months to obtain required college credits; completion of the education requirement is mandatory for eligibility for reclassification to the Corrections Officer E9.

Note:

These positions are subject to drug and alcohol testing. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, pass a post-offer medical exam, drug screen, and physical fitness test, and complete the required eight weeks of corrections officer training plus on-the-job training.
