Job Summary

The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks on construction sites, including building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, strong math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carpentry and Construction:
    • Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials, including frameworks, walls, floors, and trim.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and measurements.
    • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials with precision and accuracy.
  • Site Preparation and Safety:
    • Prepare and clean work areas, including setting up and taking down scaffolding and ladders.
    • Follow safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Use and maintain hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Installation and Finishing:
    • Install and finish doors, windows, cabinets, and other fixtures according to project specifications.
    • Apply finishes, such as stains, paints, and varnishes, to enhance the appearance and durability of wood surfaces.
    • Perform adjustments and modifications to existing structures to meet design requirements.
  • Quality Control and Problem-Solving:
    • Inspect and assess the quality of work, ensuring that it meets company standards and project specifications.
    • Identify and address any issues or defects in carpentry work and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
    • Collaborate with other tradespeople and project managers to resolve any construction-related challenges.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects.
    • Report progress and any issues or delays to the project manager or supervisor.
    • Ensure compliance with project schedules and deadlines.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or certification in carpentry is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a Carpenter, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
    • Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment, including saws, drills, and measuring instruments.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building codes.
    • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on precision and quality.
    • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to carpentry and construction work.
    • Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and working at heights.
