Mainframe Developer

Akkodis is seeking a Mainframe Developer for a Contract job with a client in Dearborn, MI. The ideal candidate should have 6+ years of experience Mainframe development with COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, IMS, and REXX.

Rate Range: $
65/hour to $67/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Mainframe Developer Job responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, test, and support enterprise Vehicle Order Processing applications across the full SDLC.
• Build and maintain backend solutions using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, VSAM, MQ, and Java technologies.
• Develop APIs, REST services, microservices, and integration layers enabling seamless transaction processing.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams in Agile environments to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Optimize application and DB2 database performance, implement CI/CD practices, and ensure system reliability and security.

Desired

Qualifications:

• 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in Mainframe development, systems analysis, and production support across the full SDLC.
• Strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, IMS, and REXX for both batch and online transaction processing systems.
• Experienced in DB2 Stored Procedures, DB2 REST Services, MQ, SQL Server, and Endeavor for enterprise application integration.
• Skilled in data analysis and management across DB2 and SQL Server environments with strong data modeling capabilities.
• Working knowledge of Java and backend integration patterns using COBOL Stored Procedures, MQ, and REST APIs.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions in Agile environments with a focus on collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement.
