Software Engineer, Backend Developer, Java Developer

Akkodis is seeking a Software Engineer for one of our clients in Dearborn, Michigan.

Rate Range: $55.00/hour to $62.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

We are looking for a talented software engineer to join a high-performing engineering team focused on building scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications. In this role, you will leverage Java, Spring Boot, Angular, microservices, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, develop, and deliver modern solutions that support critical business initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, contribute to architectural decisions, drive best practices in software development and CI/CD, and help build reliable, high-quality applications from concept through production.

We are preferring local candidates for this opportunity, as interviews will be conducted on-site. The work arrangement is 4 days onsite with 1 day WFH.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on enterprise application development.
• Strong expertise in Java and solid understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience building applications using Spring Boot and associated technologies.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices-based solutions and architectures.
• Experience developing front‑end applications using Angular (highly preferred).
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, web services, and distributed system architectures.
• Experience creating, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Terraform.
• Required experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including the development and deployment of cloud applications.
• Proficiency with source control systems such as Git and familiarity with modern software development practices.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments, including participation in sprint planning, code reviews, and collaborative development activities.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced engineering environment.

• Bachelors in computer science or related field required.
