Backend Software Engineer – Java / GCP

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer with experience developing and maintaining server-side applications, APIs, microservices, and cloud-based services. The role involves designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting backend applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to application security, reliability, and performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong Java development experience, knowledge of Spring Boot and REST APIs, and experience with GCP/cloud computing. Experience with Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD, cloud security, and IAM is preferred.

• Engage with customers to understand their use cases and requirements.
• Solve complex problems by designing, developing, and delivering solutions using various tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies.
• Follow architecture guidelines to maintain a unified and coherent approach to development.
• Design, develop, test, and deliver new application code.
• Develop and maintain backend applications, including APIs and microservices, using server-side languages such as Java.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user interface elements.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and architects.
• Manage application deployment to cloud or on-premises environments.
• Monitor application health and performance and support security hardening and disaster recovery for deployed applications.
• Manage application data storage and retrieval using database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Promote improvements in programming practices, including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
• Optimize backend infrastructure and deployment practices to improve application resiliency and reliability.
• Support security practices designed to safeguard user data, including encryption and anonymization.
• Support product users and maintain an enablement mindset.
• Identify improvement opportunities and demonstrate thought leadership.
• Work independently on larger areas of responsibility while collaborating effectively with others.
• Use AI responsibly to benefit products and services.

• Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of experience in IT.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Practitioner-level experience with at least one coding language or framework.
• Experience with Java.
• Experience with software and application development.
• Experience developing REST APIs and backend applications.
• Experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience with application design and application testing.
• Experience with GCP and cloud computing.
• Experience with GCP Cloud Run.
• Experience with JUnit.
• Knowledge of databases and data technologies, including Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of API development.
• Knowledge of security concepts, including Zero Trust.
• Full-stack application development experience.
• Experience with Dev Sec Ops  development, including CI/CD practices beyond simply using pipelines.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Ability to comprehend work in both depth and breadth.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage a larger set of work independently and collaborate with others.
