Senior Transportation Driver - Part Time

Job OverviewDriver is responsible for transporting clients to and from various medical appointments and other appointments as needed. The Driver completes assignments and all paperwork in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities- Transport individuals with and without disabilities to various locations, including picking them up at residence, driving, and dropping them off.
- Review and confirm transportation schedule before departure, and bring issues to dispatch or coordinator.
- Perform vehicle inspections and maintenance, ensuring fluid levels and handicap accessibility equipment function.
- Clean interior and exterior of vehicle as directed.
- Notify manager of vehicle repairs or service needs.
- Maintain driving log and record mileage.
- Check safety equipment and vehicle condition before departure and when changing vehicles.
- Copy and file driver’s reports, transportation requests, and vehicle inspection forms.
- Maintain contact with dispatch; keep agency cell phone charged and in working order.
- Report accidents/ incidents immediately, within one hour, and submit written report within 24 hours.
- Assist passengers with disabilities.
- Notify customers of changes in arrival/departure times.
- Maintain good customer relations and services.
- Follow all driving laws, including seat belt use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience driving a van or bus. Experience working with the senior population is a plus.
RequirementsGood driving, written, and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with the geographic layout of Wayne County, including VA Hospitals and University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. A valid Michigan Chauffeur’s license is required; preference for CDL Class B with passenger endorsement. Must operate cell phone, two-way radio, GPS, general office equipment. First Aid/CPR Certified and able to operate an AED. Heavy lifting required.
