POSITION SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for all operational activity including order entry, load planning, and load monitoring. The Supply Chain Supervisor will supervise salaried associates, be responsible for performance management, and actively participate in the hiring process and customer interactions. Typical shift is Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm with the ability to be flexible to meet customer demand.
Major Responsibilities- Lead team of salaried employees (includes performance review, corrective action, and goal setting)
- Provide detailed instruction to various personnel via email and phone
- Act as first‑level escalation for customer inquiries
- Assist in new customer implementations
- Prioritize time‑sensitive situations
- Work with team on scheduling deliveries to receivers and providing excellent customer service
- Ensure customer’s KPIs are hit on a daily and weekly basis
- Track shipments to ensure on‑time delivery is met
- Handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot‑rate basis
- Analyze process data and work on continuous improvements
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities for the customer
- Ensure all business needs are covered, including when there are vacations, illness, etc.
- Other projects as assigned by the manager
- 2–5 years of experience in the logistics / supply chain industry
- High‑school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a supervisory role
- JDA Transportation Management System experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills
- Strong customer focus
- Skill in problem solving / process improvement
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time‑sensitive situations
- Advanced desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required
- Ability to learn and regularly operate various computer systems across platforms
- Ability to lead and develop a team of salaried associates
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers and Penske personnel
- Team player with flexibility in working different shifts
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Willingness to travel as necessary and comply with background investigation, drug screening, and required schedule/location commitments
