This position performs technical duties in support of the city’s financial operations.
Job SummaryThis position performs technical duties in support of the city’s financial operations.
Major Duties- Balances and enters cash reports.
- Receipts payments from the general public, retirees, or other departments in person, by direct deposit, and online.
- Researches and gathers information to prepare documentation regarding tags and titles for all city vehicles and equipment.
- Researches and gathers information to prepare documentation related to return checks.
- Processes public requests for information.
- Prepares and processes office invoices and payments.
- Receipts and issues building permits.
- Processes board applications
- Posts notices and city meetings.
- Assists with recording legal documents.
- Maintains office supply inventory; reorders as needed.
- Receipts and processes the sale of tobacco stamps; maintains related inventory.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
- Prepares, monitors, and documents yard sale and solicitor permits.
- Assists with municipal elections.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for five or more years.
- Must be proficient with computers, including Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel and Adobe at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in problem solving.
- Skill in prioritizing and planning.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- GAAP, GASB guidelines, internal control procedures, relevant state and federal laws, purchasing procedures, and county and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
- The work consists of related technical duties. Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for the city’s financial operations. Successful performance ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.

- Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
- Standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
