This position is based on the ACA - Decatur campus.
Salary
Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule D1: $46,590 - $94,363 (9 months)
An additional summer assignment may be available: $14,384 - $29,184 (3 months)
(Salary placement within this range is determined by your academic credentials and documented years of full-time related work experience)

Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications.
Applicants must provide information from previous employers documenting full-time related work experience if an offer is made.
* Teach dance courses at varied times, locations, and instructional formats based on student and program needs, including day or evening classes; at the Alabama Center for the Arts, the Decatur and Huntsville/Research Park campuses, dual enrollment sites, and other approved locations; and through traditional, hybrid, or distance learning formats.
* Provide competent instruction in dance technique, performance, choreography, dance history, and other dance-related coursework within the instructor's area of expertise.
* Develop, revise, and implement curriculum for dance courses, including the creation of new courses and full program pathways for dual enrollment and associate degree students.
* Lead the development and ongoing assessment of a comprehensive dance program, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and transfer opportunities.
* Maintain safe, organized, and functional dance studios and instructional spaces appropriate for movement-based learning.
* Assist in the development of discipline-specific student learning outcome objectives.
* Assess student learning using multiple assessment strategies.
* Analyze and interpret data relative to student learning and provide feedback to the institution and students for the purpose of improving and expanding student learning.
* Evaluate student progress using established institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual assessment criteria.
* Collect, maintain, and submit accurate academic records, including grades, attendance, withdrawals, and other required documentation, to appropriate offices in a timely manner.
* Prepare and assist in the development of academic materials, including course syllabi, program outlines, assessment plans, and catalog content.
* Participate in required in-service training, professional development activities, and departmental meetings.
* Advise students academically and professionally, supporting educational planning, transfer goals, and career exploration within the field of dance.
* Demonstrate reliability and professionalism by reporting to work punctually and maintaining assigned office hours.
* Maintain and enhance professional competency through continued study, creative activity, performance, choreography, and engagement with current trends in dance education.
* Foster positive relationships with local schools, arts organizations, and community partners to support recruitment, outreach, and program visibility.
* Perform all instructional and professional duties with integrity, collaboration, and respect.
* Provide input and recommendations to administration regarding dance curriculum, facilities, scheduling, and program development.
* Serve on institutional committees as appointed or elected to support the mission and advancement of the college.
* Become familiar with and adhere to institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Personnel Handbook, and Alabama Community College System Policy Manual.
* Perform other appropriate professional duties as assigned.
* A minimum of a Master's degree in Dance Pedagogy, Dance Education, or a closely related field with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in dance from an accredited institution is required.
