Overview
Staff the circulation desk and assist Library patrons.

ResponsibilitiesA minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required

- Ability to put books and materials from the floor and cart onto shelves, lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to move a book truck with books weighing as much as 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others as a member of a team.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary, occasionally swapping evenings with Wednesday/Thursday part time circulation assistant.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and common sense in handling unusual and/or stressful situations at the Circulation Desk or in the Library.
- Ability to follow established policies and work as a member of a team.
- Ability to put books, objects, and materials from the floor and cart onto shelves, lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs for basic computer work.
- Skill in operating a mouse to control a computer.
- Skill in operating a computer.
- Customer Service Orientation- A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs.
- Knowledge of community college policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Library of Congress call numbers.
- Knowledge of Banner System and or a similar system.
- Knowledge of how wireless systems work.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and techniques.
- Skill in utilizing a multi-line phone system.
- Skill in operating a fax machine, copier, scanner, calculator printer, and typewriter.
- Skill in operating AV equipment.
- Skill in operating microfilm and microfiche reader.
- Skill in current student technologies used at the college.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to prescribed routines.
- Ability to operate an Integrated Library System such as Horizon.
- Ability to use Adobe Software.
- Ability to make decisions based on correspondence, data or other information.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues.
- Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision/work independently.
- Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to operate Banner.
- Ability to operate a web browser and navigate the internet.
- Conscientious-wanting to care about how work is done and wanting to do a good job.
- Initiative- responding to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work.
- A focus on details.
