Interested in joining us on our journey? We are seeking a Material Flow Engineer to help transform our Plant Materials team into a world-class Lean operation. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of material flow strategies across manufacturing and inbound warehouse operations. You’ll apply Lean principles—such as PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and Single Piece Flow—to optimize space, transportation, equipment, and inventory while partnering closely with cross‑functional teams.

This is a highly visible role for a hands‑on, results‑driven engineer who thrives in high‑volume manufacturing environments and enjoys solving complex operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead plant material flow and supplier management strategies aligned with the Appliance Production System (APS)
  • Own and continuously improve PFEP, ensuring accurate part data, supplier information, storage locations, and usage metrics to reduce waste and improve productivity
  • Design and implement delivery, transportation, packaging, shop‑floor flow, and supermarket strategies for all parts
  • Drive standardized work within the materials function to ensure process stability and repeatability
  • Partner with Shop Operations, Quality, Supplier Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, and New Product Implementation teams
  • Develop space and layout strategies to support projected inventory levels
  • Lead cross‑functional projects to improve efficiency, inventory accuracy, and material planning performance
  • Manage transportation and logistics costs to reduce inventory and increase productivity
  • Improve and deploy IT tools and systems to simplify material processes and reduce cost
  • Prepare and present project updates and performance metrics to senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering, supply chain management or business
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within supply chain (i.e.: manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, materials, quality, procurement, fulfillment or related functional area), and/or equivalent experience and education
  • Lean Manufacturing experience (implementation and continuous improvement)
  • Experience with time studies/material flow
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals at all levels of the organization to achieve operational results
  • High level of initiative, energy and motivation to develop & grow in a team environment
  • Organizational skills, initiative, and ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks
  • Strong technical competency and experience
  • Production‑oriented and hands‑on
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem‑solving and follow‑through ability
  • Ability to facilitate team projects
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge including coding and robotic languages as well as Auto Cad and MS Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, supplier management and project implementation
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Demonstrated accomplishments showing results‑driven methodology, analytical methods, schedule achievement, teamwork, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and leadership influencing skills
