The Junior (Associate) Manufacturing Engineer supports the application and development of manufacturing processes at Beyond Gravity, particularly for composite structures including payload fairings, interstage adapters, and similar hardware. They contribute to production while building key competencies in hands-on fabrication, tooling, and process execution.
Your StoryEducation & Experience
- Current college student enrolled in an engineering program or holds a Bachelor’s or equivalent education and experience.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Entry Level Manufacturing Knowledge in:
- Composite structures (especially CFRP): layup, curing, trimming, bonding, and assembly
- Metallic and non-metallic fabrication processes
- Surface treatments and bonding/joining of structural components
- Familiarity with aerospace products such as payload fairings, interstage adapters, and payload attach fittings
- Awareness of manufacturing and inspection processes
- Ability to perform root cause analysis
- Ability to draft technical documentation
- Ability to update manufacturing work instructions
Soft Skills & Work Ethic
- Developed interpersonal skills
- Project planning capabilities
- Willingness to learn and a drive to succeed
- Entry-level responsibility for production support, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration
Nice-to-Haves
- Industry Knowledge
- Knowledge of the aerospace or spaceflight manufacturing industry
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards
- Technical Enhancements
- Knowledge of sandwich structure assembly techniques
- Hands-on experience with CFRP tooling and processing
- Experience with CAD tools and documentation best practices
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma)
