As a Manufacturing Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

* Developing and implementing improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity) in the Decatur Multi-Layer Optical Film (MOF) production areas.

* Assisting local and global manufacturing teams on rapid resolution of issues and complaints; including root cause analysis, timely response, communication, and implementation of corrective actions.

* Leading efforts to scale-up new products and work on cross-functional teams.

* Using Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement tools to drive improvements.

* Developing training, process standards, and other documentation supporting the operation of production lines.

* Covering production and experimental runs in a 24/7 manufacturing environment as needed.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).

* An internship or one (1) year of experience in a private, public, government, or military environment in one or more of the following areas: process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, process development or quality.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

* Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.

* Three years experience in private, public, government, or military environment in one or more of the following areas: process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, process development or quality.

* Experience in batch extrusion, film making, coating, and/or winding

* Strong organization, communication, project management, and coaching skills.

* Six Sigma or Quality Improvement training/certification.

* Experience working on cross functional teams.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills.

* Project management experience.

Work location:

Onsite at Decatur, AL

Travel:
May include up to 10%

The expected compensation range for this position is $98,964 - $120,957, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
