DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will manage technology and lead major projects to improve product performance, efficiency, and costs in the automated Non-grain Oriented Electrical Steel (NOES) plant, supporting Arcelor Mittal Calvert's business goals.
The Basics- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field
- 3+ years rolling mill technology
- 5+ years of industrial experience
- Demonstrated understanding of control systems, instrumentation, process models (Process Management fundamentals)
- Experience in NOES - Non-Oriented Electrical Steels product and reversing cold mill (RCM)
- Demonstrates strong decision‑making, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Basic understanding of mass flow in the cold rolling process
- Strong teamwork and a hands‑on working approach
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to senior management
- Background in all major steel mill processes and products preferred, with in‑depth knowledge of finishing processes and technology
- Demonstrates strong decision‑making, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Anticipates and adopts innovations in business‑building digital and technology applications
- Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
- Knows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to competently handle a fast‑paced environment, with strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal
- Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect
- Provide technical support for the NOES RCM process
- Responsible for regular reporting of NOES RCM performance to Technology Manager
- Work directly with NOES RCM Operations team to support improvement initiatives
- Perform in‑depth analysis and investigations of NOES RCM performance
- Develop and implement special/improved inspection and testing methods
- Drive functionality and performance improvements of process models/control systems (Flatness control model, Rolling model, etc.)
- Demonstrate the company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability
- Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
- Fulfill the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality Commitment
- Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)
