Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in mechanical design, troubleshooting, and maintenance within an industrial plant setting. This role involves project management, support for plant-wide maintenance programs, and collaboration with various departments to ensure safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Support and drive plant-wide predictive maintenance programs.
- Manage and support capital improvement projects.
- Assist in managing maintenance activities within the plant.
- Collaborate with the Plant Safety Steering Committee and production department to ensure a safe workplace.
- Troubleshoot equipment and conduct root cause analysis.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts and supply room inventory.
- Ensure required training is scheduled and performed.
- Help maintain plant ISO QMS and EMS certifications and conduct internal audits.
- Manage outside contractors' performance to ensure successful completion of engineering and maintenance projects.
- Attend team meetings as required.
- Maintain and manage engineering and maintenance records.
- Handle weekly payroll and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as required.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-10 years of experience in an engineering role within a plant.
- Project management experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience in maintenance troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design and systems.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting industrial equipment, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and HVAC systems.
- Experience with load cells systems, PLCs, and fired burner systems.
- Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance principles and systems.
- Familiarity with industrial safety systems (OSHA 1910).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with predictive maintenance tools such as IR scanners and vibration analyzers.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD drafting systems and Solid Works.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural engineering drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in tire cord and/or carpet manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Manual dexterity and ability to work required hours and days to complete essential functions.
- Capability to write a scope of work and use Gantt charts.
Work Environment
The work environment requires vision, hearing, and speech capabilities, along with manual dexterity. The position operates Monday through Friday during regular business hours. The role involves collaborating with a diverse team in an industrial setting, where safety and adherence to procedures are paramount.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Decatur, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Decatur, AL.
