As a structural analysis team lead that has ownership over technical scope assigned to team, job responsibilities include:

• Performing and leading the team in advanced strength, fatigue and fracture analysis of structural components, including non-linear analysis for the Major Development Structural Analysis Team.
• Facilitating all team work scope planning, prioritization, and execution including issue resolution and communicate status to program leaders.
• Creating advanced analysis models, performing hand calculations and having an understanding of analysis best practices to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs and installations.
• Reviewing and approving 3-D engineering layouts, 3-D models, designs / drawings and 2-D drawing changes for a variety of propulsion, fluid system and mechanical system components.
• Making engineering design recommendations with consideration of thermal, mechanical and pressure loading using appropriate material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc.
• Documenting analysis results in strength reports.
• Driving internal peer reviews, table top reviews and formal design reviews as needed.
• Supporting fast paced design/analysis cycles and evaluating hardware non-conformances to support production activities.
• Working independently and coordinating efforts across functional and product teams.
• Assisting in developing the teams processes and capabilities as well as mentoring jr. engineers.
• Assisting the team in creating analysis automation tools.

Experience or familiarity with the following tools/software:

• NASTRAN (Static, Modal, Dynamic and Non-Linear Analysis Solutions)
• FEMAP pre/post processor
• NX CAD/Simulation
• NASGRO fracture mechanics tool
• Unix/Linux mainframe based analysis tools
• Math Cad
• ABAQUS
• MS office (word, excel, ppt)
• JIRA

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university
• Resolve technical issues leveraging all available analysis tools and methodologies.
• Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results/experience
• Proficiency with MS Office tools and agile tools including JIRA
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential
• General understanding of materials and material properties
