Position: Electrical I&E Engineer – Chemical Plant

Electrical I&E Engineer

This company is a global technology leader in its segment of the chemical manufacturing industry. The Electrical I&E Engineer will serve as the Site Electrical Engineer within the Maintenance Department, supporting the plant's design and operational needs to ensure safe, efficient operations. This role manages complex issues within electrical and instrumentation systems, contributes to long term planning, and serves as the plant's Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for NFPA 70E compliance.

Full time, on site. Role includes standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the ability to work at heights and climb stairs or ladders as needed.

$86,000 to $106,000 annually, depending on experience, plus a sign on bonus and annual bonus potential of 8 to 12%.

The Electrical I&E Engineer maintains and updates plant electrical single line diagrams along with associated Arc Flash Analysis and labeling, and serves as the site's Authority Having Jurisdiction for NFPA 70E compliance. This role specifies appropriate preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation equipment, drawing on knowledge of PLCs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and low voltage (under 600 VAC) plant systems, as well as DC voltage systems supporting PLCs, instruments, DCS, and UPS equipment.

The engineer also provides maintenance functional input on new process equipment purchase specifications to ensure they meet plant requirements, and applies strong technical acumen to understand complex manufacturing, design, and operational processes associated with chemical plants and equipment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives and motors, low and medium power distribution, substations, and power distribution equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, cables, etc.)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in facility engineering
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to lead projects and teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing with Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), thermography, and motor circuit analysis

$86,000 to $106,000 annually, depending on experience, sign on bonus, annual bonus potential of 8 to 12%, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off.
