- Apply engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test fluid systems
- Develop, release, and support engineering artifacts throughout the development cycle
- Support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, testing, and operations
- Implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions
- Provide technical information and collaborate with suppliers
- Design and build portions of the MK2 Crew Lander fluids and propulsion systems, including tubing and mounting hardware
- Own CAD models and coordinate analysis and manufacturing development through conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation
- Generate CAD models for hypergolic and/or helium fluid system hardware
- Lead design-for-manufacturability efforts for fluid component assemblies
- Work with supply chain to procure hardware and manage vendor deliverables
- Define and implement supporting hardware such as heaters, instrumentation, mounts, and valves
- Perform basic structural analysis on fluid system hardware
- Evaluate customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data for feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
- 8+ years of experience designing cryogenic tubes and fluid components
- Experience generating 3D models and drawings in Creo for complex fluid hardware
- Professional experience specifying fluid fittings and mounts
- Experience performing structural hand calculations and analysis with tools such as ANSYS
- Experience interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Expertise in ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
- Experience with static and non-linear FEA analysis using ANSYS
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Desired:
Experience with Pro Engineer/Creo, Windchill, and Pro Piping - Desired:
Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of metallic structures - Required to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
- DBIDS background check may be required if the role requires work on a military installation
Demonstrates expertise in designing and analyzing fluid systems, including the generation of CAD models and performing structural analysis. Proficient in collaborating with suppliers and managing hardware fabrication and assembly processes.
