Job HighlightsThis is a travel‑at‑home/fill‑in Phlebotomist position for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Shifts are available for days, evenings, nights, weekends and overnight, but primary needs are late mornings to evenings during the week.
Job SummaryUnder specific direction, the employee collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing, maintains collection areas and equipment, and performs record‑keeping duties.
Primary Responsibilities- Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.
- Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.
- May perform waived testing.
- May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
- Identifies patients using two identifiers.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- One year experience.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication; ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)
