Position: Assembler 2193

Position Overview

The Assembler is responsible for building and assembling hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders in accordance with engineering specifications, work instructions, and quality standards. This position involves hands‑on assembly of components, including seals, pistons, rods, and tubes, as well as inspection and testing to ensure proper function and durability. The Assembler will work closely with production and quality teams to meet customer requirements, maintain efficiency, and ensure a safe, organized work environment.

Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to producing high‑quality products are essential to success in this role.

Essential Duties
  • Assemble hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders according to blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Install seals, pistons, rods, end caps, and other cylinder components with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Inspect parts for defects, proper fit, and quality prior to and during assembly.
  • Perform pressure and functional testing of completed cylinders to verify performance and safety standards.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc.) during assembly.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Communicate issues with parts, materials, or equipment to supervisors or quality control staff.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to prioritize jobs.
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Mechanical background.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints.
  • Able to read a tape measure and calipers.
  • Prior heavy assembly experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
Qualifications

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education / Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close‑toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment. The employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
