ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Planner helps keep production running smoothly across the Paint, Molding/Service, and Components areas. This role turns customer orders into production schedules, ensures materials arrive on time, and works with different teams to avoid delays. The planner is key to making sure parts are produced correctly, on time, and with the right inventory in a fast‑paced automotive environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:- Create daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders.
- Work with suppliers to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Monitor production capacity and adjust schedules as needed.
- Coordinate repairs, rework, and special requests without delaying customer shipments.
- Keep inventory organized and accurate, including part details and stock levels.
- Respond quickly to issues such as material shortages or equipment delays.
- Support improvement projects to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Help plan new product trials and engineering changes.
- Maintain accurate production and material data.
SPECIFIC TASKS:
Paint Planner Tasks:
- Plan the order of painted parts to reduce color‑change waste and meet curing requirements.
- Coordinate paint‑related needs such as color changes.
- Work with Quality to manage re‑paint needs.
- Schedule mold and tool changes and assign machines.
- Ensure required materials like resin are available.
- Balance service‑part needs with normal production.
- Manage part details such as pack size, delivery frequency, and supplier timing.
- Monitor shipments and manage packaging or returnable containers.
- Ensure parts are complete and ready for production.
- On‑time delivery to customers (target: 100%).
- Reduced use of premium freight for urgent shipments.
- Improved inventory turns and accurate stock counts.
- Reduced waste from paint changes and production changeovers.
- Maintain inventory accuracy of 98% or higher for high‑value and production‑critical material.
- Ability to plan and coordinate materials and production activities.
- Experience working with suppliers and tracking deliveries.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to respond quickly to issues.
- Comfort working in a fast‑moving production environment.
- Understanding of manufacturing or supply chain processes.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed and travel occasionally.
- Willingness to cross‑train across Paint, Service, and Materials planning.
- Degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or similar field (preferred).
- 3+years’ experience in production planning or materials management.
- Strong communication and time‑management skills.
- Experience with SAP, EWM, NYSUS, and Microsoft Office.
