Job Description & How to Apply Below

Machinist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Machinist to join a precision-focused manufacturing team. In this role, you operate Mazak, Haas, and Okuma CNC machines to produce high-quality components from materials such as aluminum, steel, alloys, and Inconel. You work with tight tolerances, perform tool changes, set up multi-axis operations, and use precision measuring devices to ensure parts meet exact specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Mazak, Haas, Okuma, and other CNC machines to produce precision components to specification.
  • Set up CNC mills and lathes, including multi-axis (4-axis and 5-axis) configurations, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and work holding.
  • Perform tool changes and adjust offsets as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Work with a variety of materials, including aluminum, steel, alloys, and Inconel, selecting appropriate tools and machining strategies.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to plan machining operations.
  • Use precision measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and ensure compliance with tight tolerances.
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot G-code programs to optimize machining processes and resolve production issues.
  • Perform machine setups for new jobs, including fixture installation, workpiece alignment, and verification of machine parameters.
  • Monitor machine performance and part quality, making adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized machine shop work area and follow standard operating procedures for safety and quality.
  • Use personal tools (calipers, micrometers, wrenches, and other basic hand tools) to support daily machining and setup tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with hands-on operation of Mazak, Haas, Okuma, and similar CNC machines.
  • Strong understanding of tight-tolerance machining and the use of precision measuring devices.
  • Experience with 4-axis and 5-axis CNC operations and multi-axis setups.
  • Proficiency in G-code programming with the ability to modify and troubleshoot CNC programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
  • Hands-on machining experience with mills and lathes in a machine shop environment.
  • Practical knowledge of machining processes for aluminum, steel, alloys, and Inconel.
  • Ability to perform CNC machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, and workpiece alignment.
  • Ownership and use of basic personal tools required for the role, such as calipers, micrometers, and wrenches.
  • Comfort working with precise measuring devices, including calipers and micrometers, to verify dimensions and tolerances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for interpreting technical drawings and ensuring proper fit and function of parts.
  • Experience with Mazatrol conversational programming for efficient setup and operation of Mazak CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and machining processes.
  • Experience with CAD and CAM software for programming and designing parts.
  • Understanding of optimal feed rates, speeds, and tooling strategies for various materials and machining operations.
  • Experience with fixture design, setup, and adjustment for different machining operations.
  • Exposure to machining in an aerospace-focused environment.
  • Comfort working with axis controls and multi-axis machine configurations.
