Spin Line Operator

Position Overview

Hexcel is seeking candidates for pre‑employment training for current and future Spin Line Operator positions at our Decatur, AL manufacturing operation.

• Safely perform all operating functions required to initiate and maintain PAN fiber production
• Safely start up, operate, and shut down all spinning‑related processes, including process set up, changeover and emergency operations
• Utilize statistical process control (SPC) charts and rules to guide process investigation and decisions
• Maintain equipment and area cleanliness, including 5‑S checklists and regular general area cleaning activities to maintain and enhance safe operation, process performance and area appearance
• Grade, label, and package finished product, recognizing, and preventing shipment of defective product
• Starting rate: $27.81 per hour plus shift premium with pay progression
• Work 12‑hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or production environment (preferred)
• Ability to learn to operate material handling machinery (forklift, pallet jack, floor sweeper), hand tools (scissors, utility knives, various wrenches, banding tools, etc.), power tools (drill motors) and both hand‑held and lab instruments (balances, ovens, temperature instruments, tachometers, etc.)
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to draw and interpret graphs
