Position

Summary

Under direction of the Production Manager, the Shipping Lead is responsible for preparing documentation required for outbound and inbound product, and for updating product inventory based upon shipments sent and received. The work is usually routine and follows established work instructions, precedents, and guidelines, though sometimes the details may vary. There is some overtime involved on short notice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M culture.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Maintain forklift inspection records and ensure teammates perform inspections daily.
  • Produce shipping documents to accompany loads; provide customers with shipping information.
  • Receive and retag all returned material from customers and vendors.
  • Generate production for outside processed material.
  • Add shipping labels to all bundles, boxes, and totes that are scanned when loading.
  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise a shipping team that carries out the responsibilities of shipping and receiving of materials and finished product. May be required to assist in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and disciplining employee.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records.
  • Basic math skills, including add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Able to operate standard office machinery (computer, phone, fax, copy machine, etc.)
  • Sufficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Able to speak, read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations and shipping documents written in English.
  • Requires meeting strict deadlines, work with others in a group or team, coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities, work with external customers or the public.
Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, required.

Minimum Experience

Minimum 6 months to 1 year Logistical/freight Experience, required. Industry related knowledge, preferred.

Licenses/Designations and Certifications

Licensed to operate a forklift.
