Plant Manager

Resource Tek is the Human Capital division of Barge Design Solutions, a multi-discipline Engineering and Architecture firm. We specialize in providing technical recruitment and staffing services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Information Technology, and a broad range of other Technical disciplines.

In partnership with our client, Resource Tek is seeking an experienced, solutions-driven Plant Manager to join the team at their manufacturing facility located near Decatur, AL.

The right candidate will be responsible and accountable for making decisions that affect employee health & safety, employee relations, employee growth & development, facility profitability, quality of products, customer satisfaction, and local/regional community relationships. Develops manufacturing budgets and plans to meet production goals within budget.

• Lead all aspects of the manufacturing operations and development activities of the plant to achieve short and long-term goals to meet customer and company expectations.
• Drive world-class processes in the areas of EH&S, developing a solid safety culture within the plant in order to achieve an accident-free work environment, providing prompt and effective action to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions as they become apparent.
• Propose and execute plant operational budgets, capital budgets, sales forecasts and resource requirements.
• Lead the manufacturing functions in the plant on all shifts to ensure on-time production and shipment of conforming products and materials. Including: planning the production flow, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, handling staffing issues, and monitoring production orders and schedules.
• Develop and implement sustainable manufacturing processes needed to manufacture high-quality products on time.
• Identify opportunities for improvement across the plant in relation to process, equipment, facilities and staffing and drive implementation in a spirit of continuous improvement.
• Maintain and control plant inventories to inventory plan to meet anticipated customer demands without excess investment.
• Responsible for the integrity of all the plant-related data and information.
• Continually monitor results achieved in relation to planned goals and undertake necessary corrective action to achieve the desired results.
• Drive the implementation and execution of robust quality systems to ensure product quality meets and exceeds customer expectations.
• Manage plant project list to set priorities and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
• Develop and engage with all employees in order to develop a favorable employee relations environment and work with staff members on their personal growth and development goals to ensure employees feel encouraged and motivated to contribute at their full potential.
• Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relations.

• 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing, including experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years’ manufacturing experience in a process-based environment; wire and cable experience preferred.
• 5+ years manufacturing plant/general management experience
• Extensive and proven experience in Lean Manufacturing, strong track record of leading in a continuous improvement environment.
• Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing Experience / Training

• Strong leadership skills and presence
